This learning material has been designed to support the Basic Surgical Skills course run by the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. These resources should be used before, during and after the practical skills course. It is intended to be used to provide practical and helpful information and the learning of the foundation to practice surgical techniques. In different courses, it will lead students step by step in the study. When confidence can be increased after entering another stage. The philosophy of this course is to provide a realistic and supportive learning environment in which surgical trainees can rehearse basic technical skills. During the practical training sessions, tutors will provide guidance and feedback to the attendees. There will be a series of formative assessments during the practical course which are designed to support skills acquisition and will be similar to the assessment format used in the intercollegiate surgical training curriculum.
